Everyone is welcome at Fustian Cottage.

This section talks a little about the cottage and the surrounding area so you can decide whether it's suitable for your group.  We're always happy to make adaptations so we can welcome guests with disabilities.  Please contact us if there's anything else you'd like to know.

The cottage's layout

The cottage is spread over three floors (with a cellar in addition) with a step up to the front door and two steps down from the back door.  Only the kitchen and living room are on the ground floor.  The two bathrooms and the master bedroom are on the first floor and the two further bedrooms are on the top floor.

The stairs are steeper than in a modern house, with handrails on one side.

The main bathroom has a bath with a shower above it.  The ensuite has a large walk-in shower.

Oak Street

Oak Street is paved with the original Victorian setts (which are like flatter cobbles) and the pavements are stone flags.  They are a little uneven and can be slippy in wet or icy weather.

It is about 50 metres to reach tarmac pavements.

Guests with limited mobility

The cottage would be unsuitable if you would find it difficult to climb and descend steep stairs.

Guests with medical conditions

Hebden Bridge Group Practice is a local GP surgery three minutes' walk from the house.  Out of hours please call 111 or 999.

The nearest chemist is Boots which is two minutes' walk from the house at 1-2, Hardcastle House, 2 Valley Rd, Hebden Bridge HX7 7BB.

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs are very welcome.  Please let us know if there's anything you need to make your dog's stay comfortable.

Deaf guests

Tor can communicate to Level Two in British Sign Language and is happy to talk to you via video call if you have any questions.

LGBT guests

We are an LGBT family ourselves so LGBT people are always welcome.  Hebden Bridge is extremely LGBT-friendly with a large and visible LGBT community.
